Student Development

Working at Southeastern gives faculty and staff an incredible opportunity to impact students’ lives through relationships and mentorship. There are many ways to become involved, two being SEU Groups and mission trips.

What Are SEU Groups?

SEU Groups provide faculty and staff with an incredible opportunity to pour into students’ lives. This 8 to 10-week program involves faculty and staff members leading weekly small groups with students. Groups can meet at any day/time, according to the group’s availability. The focus of all SEU Groups is discipleship, but they are interest-based and not limited to Bible studies only.

How Can I Become a SEU Group Leader?

Becoming a SEU Group leader is easy. Simply email Michael Galasso, in the Department of Spiritual Formation, to let him know you are interested, and he will walk you through the process.

Is There Planning Involved?

Yes, there is planning involved, but there will be SEU Group Leader training sessions at the beginning of each semester to make sure you are fully prepared to lead your group successfully.

What Is SEU Missions?

SEU Missions is the missions movement of Southeastern University. We exist to mobilize students to serve and share the love of Jesus both in their local communities and all over the world. Our desire is that they would embrace the heart of God and ignite an authentic passion for reaching the lost. Our values are Kingdom. Honor. Excellence. You may see our “…” logo around, which is a reminder that we are part of the global story of the kingdom of God.

What Mission Opportunities Are Available?

Every year we offer many opportunities to attend missions trips over Spring Break and Summer Break. We offer different opportunities for students and staff to engage in missions work both domestically and internationally.

Will I Have to Use My Vacation Days?

Southeastern’s mission trips range in length, therefore depending on your trip of interest, you may need to devote some vacation time. However, each staff and faculty member is eligible for up to five days of paid time off specifically devoted for missions work each year. These days are in addition to your allocated vacation time.

How Can I Get Involved?

Every fall semester SEU Missions has their annual missions week. During this week they reveal what trips will be sent out that academic year. Feel free to stop by the booths and get to know the GeoLeaders of your trips of interest. If you are unable to attend or have any further questions, please email missions@seu.edu to get more information. Once a trip is selected, request time off with your supervisor and get ready to go!

The office of Community Standards & Responsibility believes that every student has a journey. That journey is either taken alone or with others. We are excited that we get to be a part of your journey!

We believe that no one makes their dreams happen alone. No part of the body can function without the entire body doing its part. We believe that we are the best that we can be when we do life together.

When you enter the disciplinary process, we assess your individual situation and connect you with resources through our campus and outside community so that they too, may journey alongside of you. We know the greatest relationships for residents are the ones found within the community so we have done all the work to make this connection easier for you.
