Human Resources SEU Human Resources exists to serve the employees of the University. We do this by:
– Equipping and supporting supervisors in the recruitment and acquisition of mission-minded, high-quality employees.
– Providing policies and procedures, as well as guidance, on all personnel matters, including adherence to state and federal employment regulations.

Insurance Benefits
Your health insurance, which is effective the first day of your full-time employment, can be selected from four possible plans. All other insurance benefits (dental, vision, etc.) are effective the first day of the month following your date of hire.
Types of Insurance Available: Health, Dental, Vision, Basic Life (provided to employees by SEU), Additional Life (provided for employee and family), Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability (provided to employees by SEU), Cancer, Accident, Flex Plans (medical and dependent care), and Gap Insurance.

Teladoc is included with all medical plans. All employees must register and log in to the Teladoc portal/app.
Additional Employee Benefits
Tuition Waiver
- Free tuition at SEU for employees, employee’s spouses, or employee’s children.
- Effective on the eligibility date.
- Available for full-time employees.
Savings Plans
- Choose retirement savings plans from AG Financial Solutions (AGFS) or TIAA-CREF.
- Effective the first day of the month following the eligibility date.
Hourly Staff (Full-Time and Part-Time Regular)
Vacation
- The number of hours that hourly, non-exempt staff members accrue is based upon their years of service and the number of hours worked. Please refer to the Employee Handbook (p. 40) for further details.
- Vacation hours begin accruing on the staff member’s date of hire
Sick Time
- Eligible full-time employees are credited with one day (8 hours) of paid sick leave for each calendar month of service (3.7 hours per pay period). Part-time employees earn sick time on a pro rata basis, based upon the hours worked. Please refer to the Employee Handbook (p. 46-47) for further details.
- Sick time begins accruing on the date of hire.
- Temporary, adjunct, and student employees are not eligible for paid sick leave.
Personal
- Hourly staff members receive two personal days per year (one day during the first year of employment if hired after July 1).
- Personal days are taken from your accrued sick time.
- 5 days paid time off annually for mission work.
Salaried Staff (Exempt and Non-Exempt)
Discretionary Time Off
- Salaried employees are eligible to take time off, as needed and approved, under the Discretionary Time Off (DTO) policy. Please refer to the Employee Handbook (p. 44) for further details.
- Time off may be used for doctor’s appointments, illness, vacation, mission work, personal days, and up to 12 weeks of approved FMLA leave.
Faculty (Full-Time)
- Eligible full-time faculty are credited with one day (8 hours) of paid sick leave for each calendar month of service (3.7 hours per pay period). Sick time begins accruing on the date of hire. Please refer to the Employee Handbook (p. 46-47) for further details.
- Full-time faculty are 10-month contract employees and do not accrue vacation time.
- Adjunct employees are not eligible for paid time off.

Meals
- Five meals per week in Tuscana Ristorante are free for all full-time employees (during the fall and spring semesters only).
- Part-time staff are eligible for a discounted meal program.
Beverages
- Coffee and water in Mi Casa Café are available for free for employees.
Campus Bookstore
- Employees receive a 10% discount on purchases (excluding textbooks).
SEU Athletic Events
- Employees receive 2 free Football tickets per home game using the Hometown Ticketing app.
- Employees and their families receive free or discounted admission to most university-sponsored athletic events.
Gym Membership
- Through SEU’s partnership with Crunch Fitness, all full-time employees are entitled to a free gym membership. As part of the membership, you will have access to state-of-the-art equipment, a free one-hour session with a personal trainer, and group fitness classes (with the exception of cycling and HIITZONE).
- To sign up, visit the Crunch location in Lakeland (5218 S. Florida Ave.) with your staff ID between the hours of 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
Lakeland’s Citrus Connection Bus System
- Employees ride for free with an SEU ID.
SEU Plays, Operas, & Concerts
- Employees receive free or discounted admission to most plays, operas, concerts, and performances.
